My College Fall Night Routine (and The Product That Saved My Skin!)

Welcome back and happy Monday! I had a pretty relaxing weekend working on homework, job applications, and this blog! My younger brother, Brent, also decided to come up and spend the weekend with me which was fun. I showed him around Atlanta and my college campus, which I think he enjoyed.

I've changed up my night routine just a little bit for the fall, even though it is still hot in Georgia. *rolls eyes* I've partnered with Clarisonic and Her Campus for this post and the Mia 1 cleansing brush from Clarisonic has literally changed my skin.

Storytime before we get into my fall night routine.

I feel like most people start getting acne and bad breakouts in their teens. While I would have the occasional breakout, my skin stayed pretty clear. I turned 20 and my skin decided to go crazy. I started getting more frequent breakouts and acne and I tried so many products and nothing helped. I cut out dairy thinking that would help. Nope. I kind of gave up and I wasn't really sure what was happening and why I was starting to have such bad skin at 20. Clarisonic sent me their Mia1 product, the Pore and Blemish Cleanser, and the Acne Brush Head and I've been using it in the morning and at night and it has really cleared up my skin.

More about the Mia 1 later, let's get into my night routine. This is my night routine for the days I have class, which is Monday and Wednesday.

I guess my night starts around 5 p.m. when I get back from my classes. I come back to my room, throw my hair up, and just take a few minutes to relax. After that, I'll usually start on homework. Around 6 p.m., I head downstairs to the kitchen for dinner. I eat vegetarian most of the time and my favorite meal lately has been my vegetable fried rice. It is super easy and you can really just look on Pinterest and find a recipe.

After dinner, I come back to my room and shower. Before I shower, I floss and start oil-pulling, wipe off my makeup and then use my Mia 1 Clarisonic cleansing brush.

The bristles of a Clarisonic cleansing brush head move back and forth, or "oscillate", gently flexing the skin and flushing water and cleanser into pores. This sonic cleansing process removes the dirt, oil and debris that ages your skin and causes breakouts. Because Clarisonic facial cleansing devices don't exfoliate – a common myth! – Clarisonic is gentle enough for twice-daily use, even on the most sensitive skin. I use mine in the morning and at night! I use the Pore and Blemish Gel Cleanser. The formula contains 2% Salicylic Acid to fight acne breakouts, as well as micro-exfoliating Lipo Hydroxy Acid to gently provide precise cell-by-cell removal of debris and dirt. In a consumer perception study* after four weeks:

  • 98% of women said the number of imperfections on their skin was reduced
  • 94% experienced smoother skin and a more even complexion
  • 88% said their blackheads were visibly reduced
  • 75% reported more radiant skin

*Study performed on 52 women, age 20-44 years old with oily skin on the face and tendency to
acne lesions.

After that, I hop in the shower and after the shower, I spit out the coconut oil I use for oil-pulling, brush my teeth, and use mouth wash. I brush my hair and use a blow dryer to partially dry it and then just let it air dry.

I put on pajamas and then do homework until around 10:30 p.m. After that, I wrap up my homework and plan for the next day. Planning for the next day usually doesn't take too long and when I finish that, I do my devotions. It is my favorite way to un-wind after a long day.

By the time that is complete, it is around 11 p.m. and I hop in bed and call it a night.
