How I Prep For My Work Day

by - July 30, 2018

What a whirlwind weekend! I attended my very first Bragg Jam in Macon and worked the event since we partnered with the music festival and that included interviewing Jordan Rager, Canaan Smith, and Cale Dodds (super sweet guys!), introducing artists to the stage, and meeting listeners. If I could go back even just a year ago and tell myself what I'd be doing now, I wouldn't believe it.

I don't think I've gotten used to the fact that I've graduated college. Like, college is over and I have a job now. I still feel like I'm going to be moving back into my sorority house to prepare for recruitment and a new semester, but I'm not. Those days are over and honestly, I don't miss them. I loved college, but I also love this new stage in my life.

I've been working with iHeartMedia for about 7 months now and wow, is it fun! I love what I do and knowing that I'm getting up every morning to do what I love is so great, but that doesn't mean that getting out of bed every morning isn't hard sometimes.

I'm not someone who can just hop out of bed in an instant. I can't get up with 30 minutes with just enough time to quickly throw on clothes, brush my hair and teeth, and grab a banana before heading out the door. If I start my day like that, my entire vibe is off and it isn't easy for me to get into the right headspace. This is why I am so crazy about my morning routine!

I start off by waking up between 6:15 and 6:45. I use the SleepCycle alarm on my phone and I love it because it wakes me up when I'm in my lightest sleep phase, so I'm not ridiculously groggy. Nobody likes waking up like that! I've also been trying out my Alexa to wake me up and I'll let you know how that goes. Once I'm awake, I'll lay in bed for a minute or two, but then I'm up! If I stay too long, I won't get up. HA! I gotta get up and open the blinds to let some light in.

Now, I do my skincare routine and brush my teeth. I talked all about my morning skincare routine and I swear by it! My skin has honestly never been better. This doesn't take too long and then I'm back in my room, wrapped in a blanket with my Beats listening to Headspace and meditating.

I aim for 10 minutes, but sometimes, I just do five. If I don't get some meditation in, my entire vibe is off and nobody wants that. I am able to handle stress better and think clearer when I meditate. It is my time in the morning to just be still.

After meditation, I read a bit of my Bible. I'm currently going through I Corinthians. I don't do a whole lot.. about a chapter or two and some prayer. I do longer quiet time in the evenings, but getting some quiet time in the mornings puts me in a good space and I look forward to it!

Now, it's time to get moving! I take about 20 minutes every morning to get in a quick workout. I love pilates, yoga, and strength training. The Nike Training app is my workout BFF right now. I definitely recommend getting it. It's FREE!

After my workout, I finally get ready for the day! I usually watch Good Morning America while I do my hair and get dressed. As far as makeup goes... I always wear mascara and a moisturizer with SPF, but if it is Thursday, I've got a full face on because I'm filming The Friday Five! It takes me roughly 30 minutes to do get ready - hair, makeup, and outfit.

I pack my bag and head to the kitchen for breakfast! I typically have a veggie egg scramble, fruit, and iced coffee. This is my absolute favorite breakfast and it never gets old. It keeps me full until lunch!

By this time, it is just about 8:30 and time for me to head out the door!
